ORHEBC is the French acronym for the men’s organization of Eglise Baptiste du Calvaire (EBC).
Our mission is to fulfill our Lord’s directive found in the verses below:
“…Open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest” (John 4:35). “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field” (Matthew 9:37-38).
“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 9:37-38).
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up (Ephesians 4:11-12).
History
We first organized as the men’s chorus of EBC in April 1987. We had our formal inauguration as the Association of Missionary Men of EBC on October 11, 1987. Many of our founding members still sing on the Men’s choir, and we celebrate our anniversary in October of each year.
In 2002, our beloved pastor, the Rev. Jean St-Ulmé, opened up our membership to all the men of EBC who are 20 years or older, and our membership grew from 18 to about 100 men. Currently, our membership is open to all the men who have agreed to become an active member of our congregation. Our current membership is about fill in 700 members.
Our motto is that: We must build a foundation “until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:13).
ORHEBC has a thirteen-member Steering Committee (Is there one?) and approximately 100 members. There are five functioning cell groups of about 20 men, with a director heading of each cell. The cells meet regularly for prayer and fellowship, and the officers hold planning meetings once each quarter to initiate church activities. On the second Sunday of each month, we meet for local missionary activities as led by the Spirit by visiting members in need. We occasionally hold social outings to fellowship, share the Gospel, and prayer. We raise funds for missionary work, and we travel to many States (Delaware, California, New York, Florida, Texas, etc), Canada, and Haiti as missionaries to affiliated churches.
