Mission statement

Mission statement

ORFEBC is the French acronym for the women’s organization of Eglise Baptiste du Calvaire (EBC).

Our mission is to help fulfill the soul saving commission of Jesus Christ by reaching out to all the women of EBC, to help them grow spiritually, emotionally, and socially.

We aim to reshape lives, build positive relationships, encourage prayer, and share the gospel of Jesus Christ.

History

Before 2002, we called ourselves the Women Missionaries. At that time, our membership consisted of the middle-aged and elderly women of EBC. In 2002, with the help of our pastor, the Rev. Jean St-Ulmé, we opened our membership to all EBC women 20 or older. This was to involve the EBC women in the life and growth of our local church, and to stimulate the spirit of fellowship in our congregation.

Today, ORFEBC is the official organization ministering to, and through, EBC women. It provides many avenues for the women to deepen their spiritual growth, and to discover and develop their God-given talents or ministries. Although we have gone through many trials and difficulties, thanks to the presence of the Lord amongst us, we still stand.

Organization and Activities

Organization and Activities

Our motto is: “No woman should be left behind, because women are God’s gift to the local church.”

ORFEBC has a 16-member Steering Committee and approximately 200 members. There are eight groups of about 25 women, with a group director heading of each group. This is to help us manage our needs, and to facilitate our walk with the Lord.  Each group meets regularly for prayer, and fellowship, and goes on missionary activities as led by the Spirit. At our meetings, we experience a closer friendship and a greater sense of belonging to the church. Our work does not stop at prayers; we also help to fulfill a variety of needs in the lives of people who interact with us.

EBC encourages women to participate in the ministry of evangelism. We have a missionary program in place where by God’s grace, our General Director has involved us in activities in the U.S. and overseas. We have an annual outreach program to Haiti, where we perform multiple missionary activities. We are far from reaching our missionary goals, because we wish to touch the lives of many more around the world. We welcome your ideas, prayers, and financial donations as the Spirit leads you. It is our firm desire to join hands with Christians around the globe to accomplish the Lord’s work.
